4 Sac Restaurants We Love

After a long day of open houses, we like to take a seat at one of our favorite restaurants. Sometimes we have time for a leisurely meal and sometimes we need to eat quickly. Here are four spots to try:

For a quick and delicious meal:

Wayne Thiebaud would be proud of the dessert case at Selland’s on H Street in Sacramento.

Selland’s

We are frequent diners at their H Street location but this local chain also has a location on Broadway and in El Dorado Hills. This spot is great for a quick meal and it has healthy and not so healthy options to select from so everyone in your family will be happy. We like to select from their prepared food case if we are in a hurry. The teriyaki chicken thighs is a must try. If you have a bit more time, order one of their pizzas or grilled sandwiches with fries — the tuna melt is one of our favorite items.  We try not to look at the deserts strategically placed right by the cash register but sometimes we indulge in the salted caramel cookie. They also have beer and wine to add to your meal.

Mural by Marin Conrad at Urban Roots in Sacramento. Your favorite mcm relator hamming it up.

Urban Roots: Craft Brewery & BBQ Smokehouse

Calling all BBQ lovers — this is the spot for you! We discovered this spot while hunting for the giant converse tennis shoe mural by artist Maren Conrad which resides on the side of their building at V and 14th Street. Brisket, ribs, pulled pork and more plus sides — they have it all. We love the patio with picnic table seating. Bring your pup, they won’t mind.

For when you have a bit more time…

Cheeseburger with sesame bun and toothpick at Hawks Provisions

The cheeseburger at the bar at Hawk’s Provision's in Sacramento is scrumptious. Pair it with the house Manhattan and fries for a perfect dinner.

Hawk’s Public House

(Alhambra Blvd, Sacramento)

It’s always a pleasant evening at Hawk’s Public House. Whether you sit at the bar or are smart enough to make a reservation in advance this spot doesn’t disappoint. The servers are knowledgeable and friendly and the menu offers burgers, fish, steak, chicken something for all appetites. We can highly recommend the burger and the public house old fashioned.

Diners eating on a patio with twinkly lights and waterfalls.

The patio at Paragary’s in Sacramento is tough to snag the weekends but worth the wait. The food is even better.

Paragary’s

We love bringing friends to Paragary’s. Not just for the great food but their patio is epic with its waterfall, fireplace and mature trees. It is a sight to behold and is always a tough seat to get so make sure when you make a reservation to request the patio. We like the patio but also don’t mind being seated in the small dining room. We usually opt for the meatballs, tagliatelle alla bolognese or the bavette steak. They offer both wine and cocktails.

We are fortunate to have so many great restaurants in Sacramento to choose from — stay tuned for more of our top picks.
